SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals: Strengthening the Global Effort

Sustainable Development Goal 17 (SDG 17)—Partnerships for the Goals—recognises that achieving the 2030 Agenda requires coordinated action across governments, civil society, the private sector, and international institutions. No SDG stands alone—and none can be met without collaboration.

Gaps in Financing and Data

Development funding remains uneven, particularly in the Global South. In 2022, Official Development Assistance (ODA) increased to $211 billion, but many countries remain far from their targets (OECD, 2023). Technology and data gaps further limit the ability to measure progress and inform decision-making.

Catalysing Collective Action

Effective partnerships align diverse actors behind shared goals. They require transparency, shared values, and inclusive governance. Whether mobilising volunteers, building digital infrastructure, or financing renewable energy, the SDGs depend on systems-level cooperation.
