SDG 13 – Climate Action: The Decisive Decade

Sustainable Development Goal 13 (SDG 13)—Climate Action—urges urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts. Global temperatures have already risen 1.2°C above pre-industrial levels, with extreme weather events becoming more frequent and severe (IPCC, 2023).

The Climate Emergency

Rising sea levels, droughts, and heatwaves threaten lives, ecosystems, and economies—particularly in vulnerable regions. Despite increasing commitments, the world remains off track to meet the Paris Agreement targets.

Adaptation and Mitigation

Mitigating emissions is critical, but so is adapting to the damage already underway. Climate finance, early warning systems, resilient infrastructure, and nature-based solutions must be accelerated globally.
