At Burohelp, we are privileged to work with incredible individuals who share our mission of making help accessible to everyone. Today, we are excited to spotlight William Tchokokam, our dedicated French language contributor whose journey is marked by a passion for international environments, resilience, and a commitment to helping others.
William Tchokokam’s story begins in France, where he nurtured a desire to immerse himself in an international environment and pursue his studies in English. This ambition led him to Tilburg University in the Netherlands, where he has been studying Entrepreneurship and Business Innovation for the past three years. Now 20 years old, William's decision to study abroad was influenced by the unique opportunities that the Netherlands offered, particularly the English-taught program that aligned perfectly with his career aspirations.
Relocating to a new country is never easy, and William faced his share of challenges. One of the most significant hurdles was securing housing in Tilburg. Despite initial difficulties and the stress of a tight housing market, William and his mother managed to find a suitable place within a month. This experience, while daunting, highlighted the complexities of moving abroad and adapting to new systems.
Adjusting to life in the Netherlands involved more than just finding a place to live. William had to navigate bureaucratic processes, such as obtaining mandatory health insurance and registering his address. While he encountered some administrative challenges, his fluency in English eased the transition, and he appreciated the efficiency and helpfulness of Dutch institutions.
William also found a vibrant student life in Tilburg. His program at Tilburg University provided ample opportunities for networking and professional growth. He participated in various student associations, including ASSET and the International Erasmus Network (ESN), which organized events and activities that enriched his university experience.
William’s love for languages extends beyond his native French. He is fluent in English and has a strong understanding of Spanish, which he improved during a two-month stay in Peru. This multilingual ability not only enhances his personal and academic life but also plays a crucial role in his contributions to Burohelp.
William’s involvement with Burohelp began when he received an email about the opportunity to help others through translation. Initially, he viewed it as a chance to utilize his language skills and earn some extra income. However, he soon realized that Burohelp's mission was much broader. It involved helping newcomers integrate into their communities by providing essential information and resources in their native languages.
Inspired by this vision, William dedicated himself to translating Burohelp’s resources into French, ensuring that French-speaking newcomers could access the support they needed. His work is instrumental in helping Burohelp expand its reach across Europe and beyond, making a meaningful impact on countless lives.
Reflecting on his journey, William expresses gratitude for the opportunity to be part of Burohelp. He is proud to contribute to a mission that resonates with his values and looks forward to continuing his work with the organization. His experiences in the Netherlands have not only enriched his academic and professional life but also reinforced his commitment to helping others.
